On Tuesday, August 24, the University officially unveiled the newest building on the East Bank, the Science Teaching & Student Services Building (ST+SS). The new building boasts 115,000 square feet of floor space for classrooms, student services areas, and common student areas, including lounges-areas where students can grab a snack and heat up lunch in a microwave.
MSA leaders were on hand at the celebration to thank University administrators for their hard work in securing funding and on-time completion for the project. Student Body President Sarah Shook emceed the event and participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Check out our photos below:

- 10 “Active Learning Classrooms” , 5 Multipurpose Classrooms, and 2 Traditional Lecture Halls
- Building designed to meet or exceed the requirements of Minnesota’s B3 sustainable design code and seeks LEED Gold certification.
- Houses Center for Academic Planning & Exploration, CEHD Career Services, CLA Career Services, College of Design Career Services, Interview Center, One Stop Student, Student Account Assistance, Office for Student Engagement, and University Veterans Services
- Building designed by William Pedersen (University alumnus) from the New York-based Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in association with Hammel, Green and Abrahamson, Inc. of Minneapolis.
